The Pitkin County Health and Human Services
building was constructed to facilitate county
services. The design of this building had to be
appealing and blend with the residential structures on one
side and the hospital on the other. The placement of
the building involved excavation of a steep hillside and
construction of platforms for the building
construction. This allowed the building to fit back
into the hillside and align with the hospital parking lot
making a campus atmosphere for county services.
The 15,500 square foot
building includes such offices as Senior Services,
Counseling and Substance Awareness programs, Veteran's
programs, Job Service, an extensive Childcare facility,
Community Health, Mental Health, and Youth
Coordinator.
